Wrestling Jackets: Blow Out at the Wildcat Invitational

This past weekend the Wrestling Jackets competed at Woodmount High school for the annual Wildcat Invitational. The tournament was a grueling 24 hours. Each wrestler had ten matches. With only three minuets to prove themselves.

When asked about the tournament Andrew McCullough said “My dad asked me Wednesday night what my goal was for this wrestling season and I told him I want to place at tournaments.” he later added “I was happy to have earned third place and represent Greer while doing it. After seeing how I compare to other wrestlers I am looking forward to this postseason and hope to qualify for the state tournament this year.”

This year’s Wildcat Invitational finsihers for Greer High School are as follows:

170 – Ellison Flores (Jr.) – 2nd

138 – Andrew McCullough (Jr.) – 3rd

160 – Avery Porter (Sr.) – 4th

145 – Micah Henkin (Jr.) – 5th

182 – David Smith (Sr.) – 5th

113 – Josh Ortiz (Jr.) – 8th

“I am happy with the results and the effort these young men put out this weekend. We have a solid base that we are ready to improve upon.” said Chad Henkin the Greer High wrestling instructor

The team finished 8th out of 21 teams with three holes in the line-up.  The next tournament will be at Crescent high school in Anderson county. Come support the Wrestling Jackets!
