Don’t you love it when the weather begins to cool down and the leaves on the trees go from green to those vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow? Here is a list of 10 of the best hiking trails with their difficulty level in South Carolina.

  1. Yellow Branch Falls, easy, 3.5 mile out and back type trail located in Oconee State Park
  2. Bear Cove Trail, easy, 2.5 mile loop type trail,  located in Devils Fork State Park
  3. Riley Moore Falls, easy, 1.9 mile out and back style trail, located in Sumter National Forest
  4. Firetower, Kanuga, and Brissy Ridge, easy, 3.3 mile loop type trail located in Paris Mountain State Park. I have hiked this tail it is quite easy, mostly flat, with a couple beautiful outlooks.
  5. Rainbow Falls, moderate, 4.3 mile out and back type trail, located in Jones Gap State Park
  6. Sulphur Springs, moderate, 3.8 mile loop type trail, located in Paris Mountain State Park. This is another trail I’ve hiked, this is my favorite trail at Paris mountain, there are a few steep rocky parts and stairs. During the trail you can stop at the dam
  7. Raven Cliff Falls, moderate, 3.5 mile out and back type trail, located in Caesars Head State Park
  8. Lower Whitewater Falls, moderate, 4.1 mile out and back style trail, located in Sumter National Forest
  9. Table Rock Trail, hard, 6.4 mile out and back type trail, located in Table Rock State Park. I have personally tried to hike this and I only got about half way, there are a lot of stairs.
  10. Rim of the Gap – Pinnacle Pass, hard, 8.3 mile loop type trail, located in Caesars Head State Park
  11. BONUS: Mile High Swinging Bridge, this isn’t really a trail, but it has some pretty awesome scenery. The 228-foot suspension bridge spans an 80-foot chasm and is around one mile above sea level. The bridge gives you a breathtaking panoramic view of Grandfather Mountain. It is located at 2050 Blowing Rock Hwy, Linville, NC 28646.
