If you haven’t noticed yet, men’s sports get a lot more attention than women’s. This article isn’t all about feminism and equality, but women’s sports are definitely underrated. If you go to a men’s soccer game, I assure you that there will be more fans than there would be at a women’s soccer game. Many women go watch more masculine sports like football, but when it comes to women’s games, there are barely any fans. Professional women soccer players made 40% less money than the men do. This is why feminism has been such a big deal recently. Since I am a girl athlete, I feel very strongly about this topic. People claim that women are now equal to men, but sports pay is just one reason why men are still considered “superior.” This may not affect you, but as a girl who plays sports herself, I don’t think that the pay is representing any sort of equality. There isn’t much we can do to fix this concern, but we can hope that one day women will be as equal as men! Although I understand why men get paid more, due to them being the main provider, I still don’t think that the amount of money you earn should be judged by your gender.
