GREER — Greer High School senior Diamon Shiflet has had many memorable basketball experiences during her time as a Yellow Jacket. Tuesday night will certainly be one of them.

Shiflet scored 25 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, recorded eight blocked shots, dished-out six assists and finished with seven steals as the Yellow Jackets edged Spartanburg High School 59-50 at Greer High School.

Greer High School coach Mazzie Drummond is pleased with his team’s play and is prepared to start conference competition. “We played a very tough non-conference schedule, to prepare us for a championship run,” Drummond said. “Our girls competed tough against some of the best schools in our area and in other states. I think we are ready to compete for a region title and make a strong playoff run.”

Megan Jones added 21 points and four assists, while Shakaiya Bradford scored eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets finished their non-conference portion of their schedule. Greer will begin Region 2-AAAA Conference play Friday as the Yellow Jackets host Travelers Rest High School for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff.
