Yellow Jackets Make Huge Statement With Win Over Cavaliers

GREER — The Greer High School Girl’s Basketball Team had already done enough to impress fans in the early part of the season. Thursday night added to their impression.

The Yellow Jackets came from behind to beat Class AAAAA Dorman High School, 64-63, at Greer High School.

“Our girls fought really hard,” Greer High School coach Mazzie Drummond said. “After being down by as many as 19, they trusted each other, trusted their coaches, and just kept fighting.”

Senior Diamon Shiflet led the Yellow Jackets with 17 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals. Senior Marshae Murray added 16 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Megan Jones scored 12 points.

Junior Skakaiya Bradford came off the bench and scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action Thursday night as they host T.C. Roberson High School. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
