GREER — After struggling at the beginning of the season, the Greer High School Girl’s Tennis Team has shown vast improvement over the past two weeks as the Yellow Jackets had won two of the four matches they played.

The Yellow Jackets continued their winning ways Thursday night as they edged Powdersville High School, 4-3, at Greer High School. Greer (3-10) lost to the Patriots, 4-3, on September 7.

“We had determination,” said Greer High School junior Olivia Turner. “We had more patience this time, and didn’t try to end points quickly.”

Turner picked up wins at the No. 1 singles and teamed-up with sophomore Hanna Henline to win at the No. 1 doubles. Henline won at the No. 2 singles, while Emily Swearingin and Ella Kate Brannon won at the No. 2 doubles.

The Yellow Jackets will end their regular season next week as they host Union County High School on Monday at 5:00 p.m. and will then travel to Blue Ridge High School for a 4:30 p.m. match on Wednesday.

The Yellow Jackets are now 2-4 in conference play. A win over Union County or Blue Ridge should lock up a Class AAAA playoff spot for Greer.
