Craig Leads Yellow Jackets Past Panthers in Softball Action

GREER — Greer High School Sophomore Sydney Craig led her team from the mound and at the plate Tuesday as the Yellow Jackets defeated Chapman High School, 6-4, in a Region 2 softball matchup at Greer High School.

Craig earned the win as she struck out eight Panthers and then added two hits and scored a run from the plate.

Greer High School Softball Coach Ashleigh Anderson was pleased with the team’s win. “We are still figuring out how to play together for the entire game,” Anderson said. “We are doing a lot of good things, but we have to cut down on the errors.”

Taylor Hannah finished with two hits and scored two runs, while Haley Beam and Megan Stoxen also finished with two hits apiece.

With the win, the Yellow Jackets move their record to 8-7-1 overall and 4-2 in the region.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action Friday as they host Southside High School. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
